Kanchanjunga Trek

 

Embark on an unforgettable 24-day journey through the remote and breathtaking landscapes of eastern Nepal with the Kanchenjunga Trek. Named after the world’s third-highest peak, standing at 8,586 meters (28,169 ft), this trek offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural exploration, and challenging trails.

The route takes you through lush rhododendron forests, serene alpine meadows, and rugged high-altitude terrain, all while offering panoramic views of majestic peaks like Kanchenjunga, Jannu, and Makalu. Along the way, you'll encounter diverse ethnic communities, including the Limbu, Rai, and Sherpa people, giving you a glimpse into their rich traditions and way of life.

Description

Day 1 : Arrival atKathmandu
You will be received by our representative at Tribhuvan International Airport and transferred to the hotel.

2 : Flight Bhadrapur – Phiktal
Our driver will conduct you along of fields to Phiktal. Night in lodge.

Day 3 : Ilam – Sukhetar – 6h
You need 6h of route to get to Sukhetar, village in which the trek will go on. Last preparation and night in lodge.

Day 4 : Sukhetar - Taplejung - Mitlung (945 m) – 4h30
Trek until Mitlung, a typical Sherpa village. During the walk, you will gaze at beautiful temples.

Day 5 : Mitlung - Chhirwa (1300 m) – 6h
First step until Sinuwa village, where we will lunch. Then the trek continues in the afternoon to reach Chhirwa.

Day 6 : Chhirwa - Sekathum (1550 m) – 5h
During the trek, we will see traditional Limbu graves. Unforgetting moment when will go through two suspension bridges. Eventually, we will walk through the same path as Dalaï Lama during his exile of Tibet in 1959.

Day 7 : Sekathum - Amjilosa (2350 m) – 6h
After walking through a lovely valley and cross a river, we will get to Amjilosa, genuine Sherpa village.

Day 8 : Amjilosa - Phole (3200 m) – 9h
This day is unique because we will pass through a bamboos and rhododendrons forest. Phose village holds incredible monasteries that we will visit.

Day 9 : Phole - Gunsa (3400 m) – 3h
Short trip so that we can get easily acclimatize. During the afternoon, we visit Gunsa monastery. Night in lodge.

Day 10 : Gunsa - Kambachen (4090 m) – 6h
Some difficult sections due to pile of rubble. Splendid view on Jannu (7710 m), Sobithongie (6670 m), PholePeak (6645 m) and Khabur (6332 m).

Day 11 : Kambachen - Lhonak (4770 m) – 5h30
After several sections where you will have to « use your hands », we will get to Lhonak dry lake Awesome camp with incredible views on a mountain massive, overlooked by KirantChuli (7366 m). Now, we are as the crows fly from Tibet.

Day 12 : Pangpema - Camp de Base du Kangchenjunga (5100 m) – 5h
Early morning because the weather evolves swiftly in this region. We go by Kangchenjunga moraine. Return to lodge.

Day 13 : Lhonak - Gunsa (3400 m) – 8h
Return by the same path to Gunsa.

Day 14 : Gunsa - Selele (4200 m) – 6h
We ascend through a rhododendrons forest to little Tamo La col (3940m). Then, we get to Selele.

Day 15 : Selele - Tseram (3900 m) – 8h
Difficult day with the crossing of 3 cols: Sirion La (4450 m), Mirgin La (4455 m) et SirelapcheBhanjyang (4530 m).

Day 16 : Tseram - Omje Khola (2345 m) – 5h
Lovely and progressive descent in a rhododendrons forest.

Day 17 : Omje Khola – Yamphudin - Mamamkhe (1800 m) – 7h
Descent until Yamphudhin village in which we see a church.

Day 18 : Mamamkhe (1920 m) – Phumpe (1800 m) - Khande - Khesewa (Sinchebung) (2120 m) – 8h
We evolve in a path until Nagdewa river, seeing two impressive falls.

Day 19 : Khesewa – Bhanjyang – Lalikharka (2250 m) – 6h
The trek goes first to KhandeBhanjyang, a mixt Gurung village. The rest of the walk is quite easy.

Day 20 : Lalikharka - Suketar (2420 m) – 3h
Quite steep slope until Bhaisakhé (2485 m) then an easy walk until Suketar.

Day 21 : Route Jusqu’à Biratnagar
A car leads us to Téraï.

Day 22 : Flight Biratnagar - Kathmandu
Return flight and free afternoon in Kathmandu. You are back to your hotel.

Day 23 : Kathmandu
Free day in Kathmandu, it is a safe day in case of delay on the itinerary or cancel of your flight.

Day 24 : Transfer to the airport
Our representative will guide you to the International airport 3 hours before your flight.
